Animal Likeness

If I have to choose an animal out of the book animal farm that is mostly alike to me, then i believe it would be Squealer. The reason why i think i am alike to Squealer is because i am a very hard working guy who is used a lot to do a lot of different things. Squealer is used to spread the propaganda and gives everyone information. Also he discovers and is inspired to find out different things about different people, Just like me. Squealer also is hard working and very kind. I am a really nice person and i am also hard working.

Control or no control

Control or no control
Some areas in my life that i have absolutely no control over are really dumb simple stuff like arguing. for example my brother tells me that i scored 12 points last basketball game. Then i say no i didn't i scored 14. The majority of the stuff i have no control over is the stuff that other people have controll over. for example really mean teachers tell me i have to do a blog over night that is 2 paragraphs and is due by 7:00, i have no controll over that, my english teacher does.

The benifits of not having control over certain things is a pleasure, for example not having a job but still getting paid from parents. Some draw backs of not having controll is feeling like your someones maid or waitress. Also another drawback is when other people are in control of you at the moment sometimes they dont tell you what to do, all they tell you is what not to do and all the wrongs. If i had the power i would spend as much daylight as possible hanging out and having fun and do all the stuff that is requires to do after im done having fun. For example if i went snowboaring from 9:00 to 5:30 then i would spend the next 4 hours doing all the stuff i have to do.

Poetry Out Loud

1. Keeping things whole. by Mark Strand
2. Eagle Plain. by Robert Francis
3. A Barred Owl by Richard Wilbur
4. The other side of this world. by Calvin Forbes
5. A psalm of life. by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Part 2.
1. My Favorate poems out of the ones listed above is definatly A barred owl. by Richard Wilbur. I liked it the most because its about owl's and to me owl's are really cool animals also the poem is a short story and cuts to the point.
2.I liked all of them because they were neat poems and the poet obviously wrote the poem for a reason and most likely because it was based off a true story.
3/4. I Would choose A Barred Owl by Richard Wilbur. The reason why is because its about owl's and i think they are really unique animals. I once had an amazing experiance with an owl. They are really beautifull creatures.

Part 3

The easiset criteria that would be best for me is most likelyPhysical Presence and Dramatic appropriateness. The reasons why is because i am really dramatic and i am pretty good at physical presence and connecting with the crowd by looking straight into their eyes and pretty much telling the poem straight to there face.

I would have the most difficult time being scored on Voice and Articulation and Level of difficulty, because it wont be very easy to memorize a harder poem that is more difficult and longer. Another reason why is because my voice doesnt change that much and when i am reading alot it also starts to stutter a little bit.

Part 4

My first poem that i watched was The man-moth by Elizabeth Bishop and my second one i watched was Danse Russe by William Carlos Williams. The man-moth was a successfull performance because the speaker used Dramatic appropriatness and voice and articulation. he was really good about connecting with the croud which is really important. The second poem, the reader did a really good job because he also really connected with the crowds and used "evidence of understanding." Personally i could really understand him and know what he was talking about.

Part 5

In conclusion, from this experiance with poetry and watching all the other kids share there poems that they memorized i have learned alot and i am thinking about reading a poem from a famous author that i do not know. I think the competiton is going to be crazy with all the people reading its going to be a really neat experiance for all the people that are going to be there. Personaly if i actually make it in the performance im not sure how i would do but it would be a fun experiance with everyone. so if i got graded from a 1-10 i would say an 8. The reason why i chose the poem i did was because it is a basic poem that was easy and it also has an actually meaning to it. I think the website is really cool and it helps alot to people about understanding what poems are about plus its really easy

Atticus and the Trial

When all the people in the balcony stand up, they are standing up because they respect what Atticus was doing by defending the Negro's. Even though Atticus lost the battle, he "won the war." I feel that it was very brave of him to defend the Negro's and personally i was a little shocked because one of the main plots in this book is racism. Loosing a battle when you know your right is better than winning a battle when you know you are wrong because inside you know the real truth and not only that but you don't have guilt holding against you.
An example of this was my mom and I were arguing one time about a year ago with a huge discussion/argument and it went to far for me because i was trying to prove my point. The next thing that happened was i eventually just gave up because i knew she would sooner or later find out the truth, and that's what happened. "I lost the war but won the battle." She came to me later and apologized as i expected and it was all good from then on.

Fear and unknown

This section of the boook reminds me of the time during the summer at about 7:30 at night when My friends and i saw a boreded up house on the side of the road. We were riding our bikes on the way to a pitstop and my friend scott said "hey guys wait up i wanna see something real quick." So we all rode our bikes back to the little driveway and went around the house. That was probably one of the scariest moments of my life looking at the house.

Everyone wanted to go inside the so called "haunted house" so we all spent like 10 minutes wandering around the side, front, and back of the house. We eventually met up at the back of the house and sat down infront of the door and talked for about 5 minutes, then we stood up and started to walk away....2 seconds later we heard a huge crash with a wooden door coming down breaking glass and shards of glass flying in the air like fire-works. we ran home as fast as we can. Then we came back about half an hour later with a flashlight and all we saw was broken glass, mirrors, desks, spray paint, toilet paper and beer bottles. It was so scary i almost wet my self. ever since then my friends and i have come back about 12 times and each time we explore another room or door.

Hero Journal

My father Ron Eger is one of my top hero's. I look up to him and whenever i need something from him including help, he's always there for me. He is a very loyal man and he's one of those guys where nobody dislikes him and everyone wants to be his friend. He has a great sense of humor, he's always joking around with everyone including people he just met.

One thing that I really admire about him is his job and work. He has a great job and has had a great job for about 20 years and it's been the same job. He is a sales rep. for blake sales. The job he does is sell pool and spa products. An advantage of his job is he gets Pools and spa's for really good prices on a discount. That is why we used to have a pool and now we have a sliver and gold colored spa with multi-colored LED lights. I want to be just like him when i grow up, a man with a really nice job that you get paid a good amount. He travels for about 10 days out of each month and when he is home he always wants to spend time with our family.
